How to Make Chocolate Covered Esspresso Beans Better

The Key Is That You Deep Fry Them
A few weeks ago, I ran my mouth off at work. During a casual conversation about deep frying, I wondered what a deep fried chocolate covered coffee beans would taste like. Then I bragged that I was gonna try it. Oh what a tangled web we weave...

A Little Help From My Friends

(Sarah and John at my coffee house on Trinity and Burnside)

Sarah and John's visit was an ideal time to make good on my boast. We bought some beans at the mart, and chilled them to help the frying process. We mixed up a delicious batter, and then proceeded to deep fry them.

Step by Step

(Chilling the Beans - no, that is not soy ice cream in my fridge)

(Delicious Batter - note the safety googles for safety)

(Ladies, I Can Cook - No, I'm not lying! Look at me, right there, cooking!)

(John Can Cook Too - but ladies, he's taken, trust me)

First of all, they were good. Really good.

Phase 2: We'll Deep Fry Anything

Second of all, we had all this oil... so we decided to fry some more stuff. Butterfinger, twinkie, and banana. The Butterfinger was good, although inferior to the classic Mars Bar. The twinkie was kind of good, but scared the shit out of me. I think Sarah liked it a lot. And I wasn't quite brave enough to try the banana.

(It Was A Promising Experiement)

(But The Toffee Center Hardened, Rendering It Tasty, Yet Difficult to Consume - also, doesn't that oil look appetizing?)

Anyways, kids. Remember that safety comes first when deep frying things for fun and profit. Always wear your googles!

Recipe

Chill beans. Heat oil to medium low in a pot, pan, or wok. Put egg white, flour, and water in a bowl. Mix. Add flour and water until batter is proper consistency. Dip beans in batter, then drop into the heated oil. Remove beans before chocalate melts. Eat the beans, you damn fool!
